Mischa Salkind-Pearl Portrait Concert / Album Release Party Tonight 🩵🩵🩵!!!
Mischa Salkind-Pearl’s Lines and Traces of Desire is out today on New Focus Recordings! We’re so thrilled that the first piece written for us is also the first piece we recorded. Listen to the album here:
The physical CD will be for sale tonight at our album release party, where we’ll be performing Lines and Traces along with Palm’s Soft Terrain for solo cimbalom and Weft for solo violin and obbligato objects.
This is the first of five portrait concerts we will present as part of our yearlong residency at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and you’ll be hearing from all of the featured composers in our newsletter. First up is Mischa!
1. Why did you pick a tuxedo cat as your animal likeness?
I used to live with two ridiculous cats, of whom the boy was a tuxedo cat named Spluff.
2. What inspired you when you were writing your duo?
Leading up to composing Lines and Traces of Desire, I spent a lot of time thinking about how memory holds and distorts the things we love. The piece became about my experience of trying to hold memories; I even tried to create some of the memories within the piece itself.
3. What was your song of the summer?
4. Halloween or Thanksgiving?
This is a Sophie's choice and I won't be forced to make a choice.
5. Who is gonna get a tattoo first, Nick or Lilit, and what would they get?
Lilit, and it will be a delicate jasmine blossom above bubble letters reading "JASMINE BLOSSOM"
Get to know Mischa even better by hearing his music tonight at 8pm in Seully Hall! 🩵🩵🩵Live Lamnth Love🩵🩵🩵
